Booking Questions

How do I book blushedbybrink for my wedding? What are your methods of payment?

A signed contract and 50% of package grand total and/or any day of services is required to secure your date.

Payment must be in cash or sent and confirmed via Zelle® or Venmo (+2% fee) to @blushedbybrink. Checks or credit cards will not be accepted.

Are there any other costs to booking not listed on the Services & Pricing Page?

Nope! Unless you want to inquire about a destination wedding, everything you need is listed on our Services & Pricing page for SoCal based weddings.

Do you offer any packages?

We do not. Only custom bookings as we tried the whole package thing and saw it rarely fit our bride’s needs. Over the years working in wedding hair and makeup, we found that tailoring the services to each bride and their party members, whether hair and makeup or only one service type, worked out way better than trying to fit them into a package. This allows us to create a customized experience and do only what you need! And since we have our pricing listed publicly on the website, the hope is that anyone can come at any time and see what their wedding or event would cost no matter the size. No need for time-consuming quote sheets to fill out!

Why are prices the same for weddings no matter the style of hair or type of makeup look?

One of our main goals when starting this business was to be as fair and straightforward as we could with our services and pricing. This industry is amazing, but it can also be confusing to clients how pricing works with some vendors or who they should book with from the several options available to them. Here are the main reasons we make it simpler for weddings:

  1. Many of the brides we work with do not know at the time of booking what style/look they definitely want (which is perfectly ok!) and more often than not, are allowing their party members getting services to choose their own looks the day of.

  2. Even though a style may look “simple”, it’s not actually that simple to create. There are so many factors that go into professional hair styling and makeup application for the best experience, outcome and individual needs. And regardless of the requested look, the service time is the same.

  3. People inherently want simplicity. It’s much easier to calculate your own wedding costs when things are straightforward.

We assure you, that no matter the look you choose, whether light and natural makeup to dramatic full glam, we use the best products and techniques and know what matters most to each type of look. That way, we can concentrate on the key elements so your experience is both high-end and truly special each time!

How many artists are needed for my wedding day?

One artist can accommodate up to 6 services. The first artist is always included in the service pricing, but each additional artist needed is $100 to help with the added organizing time and insurance cost needed to uphold the highest of standards. So depending on your total service needs, we can accommodate small to large parties based on artist availability.

What is your travel policy? How much will it be for my wedding if applicable?

Complimentary travel within 15 miles (one way) of the artist’s home geo is included. We do our best to secure local artists first, but they are always subject to availability. Additional travel incurs a fee of $1 per mile round trip per artist. Anything over 50 miles one way will be on a case-by-case basis so please inquire about your date and location for confirmation.

Am I able to add on or change the number of services on my original contract?

We have definitely worked with brides who want to secure us for their big day, but aren’t able to confirm the number of services at the time of booking. In these cases, it’s always best to book us for what you know is confirmed and add on services later as we do allow for a single courtesy update to the contract’s services after signing. Please let us know as soon as possible though in order for us to secure additional artists if needed and/or include an early start time. Each additional update to the contract affecting the total services cost will incur a fee of $50. You may subtract services up to 90 days before the wedding date with any applicable fees applying (i.e. minimum services, package eligibility, etc.)

Do you do LGBTQ+ Weddings?

Absolutely yes! We have our Services & Pricing set up the way it is to accommodate small to large parties, multiple brides, groomsmaids, and more. It’s important that everyone feels joyous, celebrated, and pampered on their big days. We can’t wait to talk to you more about yours and if we can be a part of all the love!

Is the deposit refundable?

Deposits are non-refundable - unless upon action of blushedbybrink if we as makeup/hair artist(s) are unable to perform duties for any reason, your full deposit will be returned to you. Your deposit ensures your date is secured with us. Since we also do not book our artists out on the same day for any other event, your big day is sure to be special and our utmost priority. If sadly you need to cancel your wedding or event, then you can at any time up to 60 days before the date of service and only lose the deposit already given. Since we can’t guarantee that another client will book us the same day once you cancel, the deposit helps ensure our time and expenses are at least covered.

When is the final remaining balance due?

The final payment per your contract is to be collected on the day of the event in the form of cash or sent and confirmed via Zelle® or Venmo (+2% fee) to @blushedbybrink. Checks or credit cards will not be accepted. If people are paying individually for their services, please accumulate beforehand so we receive only the total remaining per your contract and any other day of additions (parking, service additions, etc.).

Is gratuity included?

No, we do not include tips/gratuity in our pricing but it’s always appreciated!

Makeup & Hair Service Questions

What’s included in a makeup service?

Everything from skin prep to full makeup application to false lashes. We provide all the products and tools needed plus your choice of individual or full strip false lashes with every makeup service. Brides also receive complimentary airbrush foundation if they desire it and a touch-up kit on their wedding day (single use lipstick & gloss of choice, lip wand, blotting paper, Q-tips & bobby pins).

What’s the difference between traditional foundation and airbrush?

Airbrush is great for those brides, bridesmaids, really anyone who wants that "you but better" look and feel. Since it has a lightweight feel on the skin, provides that effortless natural glow and is waterproof/sweat-proof, it's definitely the ideal bridal look for when you want to still look like yourself plus last all day and night. It can be built up so you get more coverage, but we usually recommend for someone who loves a super full coverage look, that we go with traditional foundation or a combo of both to provide their desired look.

What’s included in a hair service?

Full styling including all products and tools necessary. Please bring your own hair accessories and/or clip-in hair extensions if desired (additional cost for extension application on party members/guests and must be notified ahead of wedding date - only included for bride as part of her hair service). Blow-outs are possible, but please make sure to mention when booking so we can bring everything required for this service type. As it’s not a common ask we get for weddings, we don’t bring along the extra products and equipment usually, but absolutely can when requested!

I can’t decide on what makeup and/or hair look I want. What should I do?

It’s both a blessing and a curse how many options are out there for makeup and hair inspiration! We recommend thinking about the key elements to your wedding (dress type, colors, vibe, etc.) and discussing with your artist what you like and don’t like most about what you may find online - another reason bridal previews are great! You can even take a look at our portfolio, Instagram and Pinterest to see if anything excites you.

We have a ton of ways we can help you decide on a look that will not only compliment your wedding day vision but make you look and feel like your most confident, beautiful self. After all, we know each person we meet and get the pleasure of working with is a true goddess and that sometimes, all you need is a reminder and someone to help bring out your best self!

How do you keep your tools and products clean?

We follow and go beyond even the standard sanitation practices including thoroughly washing our hands before services, applying hand sanitiser between clients and task changing, wiping and spraying each product used with at least 70% alcohol, ensuring all brushes, products, tools and applicable surfaces are properly cleansed and sanitized, bringing extra sets of sanitized brushes for multiple clients and using disposable applicators for optimal hygiene.

How do party members (i.e. bridesmaids, mother of the bride/groom, etc.) work when it comes to their hair and/or makeup?

It’s a great idea to check with all your party members getting services that they are confirmed as we require a minimum of 90 days notice prior to the contracted event date for any service removals. We also highly encourage party members to remember that this is the bride’s day! To ensure the day’s festivities go smoothly, it’s important we stick to the schedule provided. We ask that all desired hair and makeups looks be thought about beforehand. Part of the service we provide is the choice for the bride to either pick their styles and communicate it to us before or have each person tell us even while in our chairs on the actual day of the wedding. Either way, we suggest you look at our portfolio, Instagram or online for bridesmaid/party member specific hairstyles for inspiration. We love seeing photos, but time is limited and we will communicate with the party member if they are bridal style(s) or will require more time than allotted.

How long does it take to get your hair and/or makeup done?

For day-of wedding services, we schedule 45 minutes for each hair or makeup service for any party member. Bridal services take between 1 hour and 90 minutes as we want to make sure they get the special attention they so deserve on their big day.

Are there any other timing considerations for the day of?

Yes, actually! We provide a suggested timeline to every one of our brides. It will include both 15-30 minutes of set-up time once we arrive and 15 minutes of clean up time at the very end. We also include (free of charge) 30 - 45 minutes of touch up time at the end too depending on the number of contracted services. Brides are always our priority so it could be elected and used to help them get staged “getting ready” photos with their photographer as well.

What types or brands of products do you use?

For makeup, some of our favorite brands are Temptu for airbrush, Makeup ForEver, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Marc Jacobs, Charlotte Tilbury, M.A.C., YSL, Tarte, Stila, Face Atelier, HOURGLASS and Laura Mercier (to name a few :P). For hair, we really love Kenra Professionals, Living Proof, Oribe and Bumble and Bumble. Part of what is so great about the beauty industry is the variety of options, so we can continue to test and try new products out to figure out the best ones to add to our kits.

If you ever have any concerns about certain ingredients or practices, please don’t hesitate to reach out though. We are happy to check on product ingredients and provide solutions for your specific hair and/or makeup needs. It’s part of the benefit of loving and having several types of products available to us and therefore, you too!

Bridal Preview & Trial Questions

What is a bridal preview vs. a bridal trial?

A bridal preview is just that - a preview of what your hair and/or makeup look will be like on your special day! You can use it to see your vision come to life or decide if you need to make any changes so you can be your most confident self. We classify it as a bridal preview for the brides who book blushedbybrink for their wedding prior to their preview date. Bridal previews are also discounted!

A trial is when you need to test out a bridal hair/makeup vendor before you decide to book and different pricing applies when booking a true trial. Trial appointments do not reserve a wedding date so it’s important to schedule these as soon as possible to ensure availability.

When should I schedule a bridal preview and/or trial?

For a bridal preview, we recommend thinking about how your skin and/or hair may change before your big day. If you plan to do anything that could change your look, then it’s definitely best to have your preview when you’re going to be as close to your “day of self” as possible. Usually, this is between 1-5 months out from your big day. It’s also important to note that your hair and makeup should coordinate with your dress and vision for your wedding so having those decided on by your preview date is also extremely helpful in giving you the best experience possible.

As for a true trial, the date of your wedding is a big consideration. You may need to book a true trial several months to a year or more out from your wedding date in order to give yourself time to decide if you want to book a certain vendor. Due to the nature of the wedding industry, dates can sometimes fill up over a year in advance. So essentially, the sooner you book anything the better to ensure your date is secured with your vendor of choice! We don’t secure your wedding date without a signed contract and deposit.

Previews or trials are available on weekdays as brides are our number one priority with weddings usually on weekends. Please inquire if a weekday is not possible so we can try our best to accommodate.

How long does a bridal preview or trial take?

Typically, each service during a preview or a trial takes between 1 hour - 2 hours. So, if you’re getting a hair and makeup preview/trial, it will take anywhere between 2 and 4 hours to complete. This is due to the nature of the experience vs. the day of your event. As not only are you getting your hair and/or makeup done by a professional artist whatever the look you’re going for, but you’re also discussing your vision and needs, getting any of your questions answered about the day of, possibly trying out different options (if discussed ahead of time and approved depending on the type of request), and we’re getting to know you and the story of your love!

We truly treasure this time with our brides. It helps us not only make it an even more streamlined experience the day of because we now know exactly what you want beforehand, but we learn all about what makes each bride so special and beautiful inside and out.

Where are bridal previews, trials or any other appointment types performed?

Makeup and/or hair trials, previews, engagement photos, etc. are standardly performed at the artist’s home address in either Laguna Hills, Orange Country or Clairemont, San Diego depending on the lead artist who is assigned to the bride’s wedding or client’s specific needs. Travel to a bride or client’s home or a provided location is possible in certain circumstances and is applicable to our standard travel fee. Please inquire about your specific needs for more information.

How do I prepare for a trial or preview?

Once you book with us, you’ll be provided a list of prep tips for your trial or preview. You’ll also be provided a list for yourself and your party members before your wedding day in order to prepare properly for the best experience.

Can I use my bridal preview or trial for my engagement photos, party, or bridal shower?

You totally can. However, we really don’t recommend it. Your bridal preview or trial is meant to show and test out your look for your big day. Most likely, you’re going to want a different look for your engagement photos, party or shower. Plus, many brides don’t want their partner to see how they look before their big day. We also want to make sure that your day of look is absolutely perfect. So in order to do so, we sometimes are making adjustments on you during your preview/trial if desired which could possibly make the final look appear less clean than the actual day of. We know it’s an extra expense to book separately, but we guarantee it’s well worth it so your entire wedding experience is exceptionally beautiful and memorable.
